Enjoy Some Silence

Turn off all of the noise that surrounds you. It seems that we always need some kind of background noise or activity – IPods, TV, radio, computers, and telephones. It is almost as if we are afraid of being alone with our thoughts!! I sometimes think that all of the noise makes us stressed and unable to calm ourselves. So try a little silence each day – in the car, in your home, while out walking or exercising. You may need to retrain yourself to “listen to silence” – we are so used to constant sound that it may seem weird at first. Stick with it for at least a week or two to see if it works for you.

I wonder whether we may be uncomfortable being by ourselves, so we fill up the air around us with sound and company. Maybe we are afraid of what we will find if we listen to ourselves and question ourselves
